Esports News: Since it was first announced in the trailer footage in early December last year, finally the release schedule for Airship, the new map of Among Us has officially been revealed.
Among Us announced Friday, (19/3), that Airship will be releasing this month, March 31, 2021. According to InnerSloth, it’s the biggest map in the game, and will feature several new missions, platform ladders, starting area, and free hats. .
Reported by Dot Esports, the team explained that there are several factors that caused the launch of the new map, which stemmed from the skyrocketing popularity of the game made by InnerSloth in 2020. Originally released for PC and mobile devices in 2018, last year the game successfully penetrated the streaming community.
This enormous growth meant that the team had to undergo a longer follow-up period, a larger recruitment process, and hold more meetings. They also seemed unable to even take a proper winter break.
Not to mention that the team took the time to implement an accurate reporting system for accounts, as well as addressing a large number of new Airship bugs.
Even though it made fans wait longer than expected for the new map, Among Us is still making achievements on Twitch. In February, the game ranked 21st in total watch hours, with over 19.5 million hours watched. However, this is down from January, which was ranked 15th with 31.2 million hours watched.
With a new map due out on March 31st, April will be a huge revival for the popular multiplayer game about trust and betrayal.
