Airports in Saudi Arabia will be placed under the Public Investment Fund Airports in Saudi will be placed under Public Investment Fund

Jeddah: The head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Abdul Aziz Al Dulaij, has stated that the ownership, management and development responsibility of Saudi airports will be transferred to the Public Investment Fund. This was mentioned in an interview given to ‘Damania’ channel. King Salman Airport, which will start in 2030 in Riyadh, is targeting 12 crore passengers through four runways. He said that in 2050, the number of passengers on six runways will increase to about 18.5 crore.

Ownership including assets of all airports will be transferred to the Public Investment Fund. This will begin in the coming months. Airports in Riyadh and Dammam are ready for this. The location of the specific King Salman Airport in Riyadh consists of several features. The most important of them is strong infrastructure. It has a founding board headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and direct supervision from the Public Investment Fund.

Saudi Arabia also plans to launch new airlines. This is to avoid being completely dependent on Saudi Airlines. Currently, Saudi Airlines has 140 aircraft. This number of aircraft is not enough to cover the geographical size of the country. Demands cannot be fully met. The civil aviation chief also said that the new airlines will also be under the supervision of the Public Investment Fund.

Terminals 3 and 4 at King Khalid International Airport have been resolved and renovations completed. Now it is the renovation of terminals one, two and five. A complete overhaul is required in terms of belt systems, electricity and the entire system. Terminal 1 renovation work will begin within weeks. Foreign flights operating here will be shifted to Terminal Two for one year. Once the work on Terminal One is completed and opened, the renovation work on Terminal Two will begin.

The problems at Jeddah airport last Ramadan are sad. Everyone has full responsibility for it. All the causes that caused this problem will be investigated and studied. The problem is being resolved by enabling surveillance and control cameras and making the Hajj hall active throughout the year. The civil aviation chief also said that if there is any breakdown in any part of the services provided to the passenger, it will affect the further operations.
