Intensified controls at the international airport of Napoli Capodichino in the summer season by the finance police of the provincial command of Naples, in collaboration with officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Naples 1. Since June, within the customs areas, the Guardia di Finanza of the Capodichino company have seized undeclared cash, foreign manufactured tobacco, animal and plant products and counterfeit goods. In particular, in the matter of illicit cross-border circulation of currency, cash for over 437mila euro and a total of over 100,000 fines were imposed 14 thousand euros against 36 individuals. The currency, often hidden in luggage or in false bottoms, comes from and is mainly directed to North African, Eastern European or Middle Eastern countries. The attention paid to passengers in transit at the airport has allowed the seizure of over 185 kg of contraband cigarettes and, often, counterfeit, against 4 subjects of Bulgarian nationality, reported to the judicial authorities, for a total of approximately 35 thousand euros of evaded taxes.
The controls were also aimed at countering the introduction into Italian territory of products of animal and vegetable origin, without the necessary indications of origin. In this regard, 27 people were seized, in addition to 270 kg of food intended for personal use (meat, fish, fruit and vegetables), hidden inside luggage, in conditions that do not comply with the provisions of current legislation. In the context of the fight against the marketing of counterfeit goods, over 400 items of clothing and accessories bearing altered brands and logosmainly from North Africa and the Middle East. There are 27 reported individuals, two of whom have been reported to the judicial authorities.
