The government is asked to postpone or cancel the increase in the Air Passenger Service (PJP2U) aka airport tax. Airplane passengers are already burdened with expensive ticket fares.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Indonesian Aviation Service User Association (Apjapi) Alvin Lie.
According to Alvin, the public is being burdened with a surge in flight ticket prices as a result of the increase in avtur prices, now it is exacerbated by an increase in airport tax.

He asked the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi to postpone the implementation of the increase in PJP2U.
“I, as the chairman of Apjapi, hope that the Minister of Transportation delays the implementation of the increase in PJP2U and requires airport managers to announce the increase PJP2U tariff at least one month before the increase takes effect,” said Alvin Lie in a written statement to detikcom.
“The burden on air transportation consumers is exacerbated by a significant increase in PJP2U or Passenger Service Charge (PSC) or airport tax,” he said.
Alvin highlighted airport operators who were not open and transparent in announcing the increase in PJP2U. The increase in the PJP2U tariff, said Alvin, should have been widely announced before it was implemented.
“It is very regrettable that airport operators do not transparently announce this increase, so it seems that the flight ticket price has gone up,” said Alvin Lie.
According to him, the increase in PJP2U could result in an increase in air ticket prices. “The current increase is also not appropriate, because it pushes the cost of air transportation to become more expensive,” he said.
