Airplane releases fuel over Los Angeles emergency landing school – News

The plane’s kerosene also fell on another educational center, but without causing any damage.

The Delta aircraft, which was on the Los Angeles-Shanghai route, had to return shortly after takeoff due to “engine problems,” airline spokesman Adrian Gee told AFP.

“The aircraft landed smoothly after a fuel release to reduce landing weight,” he added.

Some of the fuel fell on Park Avenue Elementary School, 30 km east of LAX Airport, and also on another school in southern Los Angeles, but no one was injured.

The school district reported that “students and staff were in the courtyard when they were apparently hit by the fuel.”

Authorities immediately called in the paramedics, who mainly dealt with skin irritation and minor breathing problems.
