From Paris to New York in a few hours. This dream came true as early as 1969 with the Concorde.
From 1976 to 2003 the supersonic aircraft flew passengers from France and Great Britain to different destinations.
The reason for the early end of the era: the aircraft was too inefficient and too loud. Every time the speed of sound was exceeded, the Concorde caused a sonic boom. The burden on the environment was too high. The result: The Concorde was no longer allowed to break the sound barrier overland.
But now the company “Leap Aerospace” is hoping for a revival of supersonic travel.
The US aviation company wants to have the aircraft ready in a few years. The data: Leap EON-01 should be almost 2350 km / h, the machine should carry up to 88 passengers.
Outwardly, the plane is reminiscent of the Concorde: delta wing, two motor gondolas each with two engines and the general shape are almost identical, only the nose is significantly longer than that of the Concorde.
The company believes it will soon have solved the sonic boom problem. The solution: a shape that reduces sound waves and a new type of engine. The engine should do without rotor blades and therefore be significantly quieter than comparable drives, among other things.
The futuristic aircraft is expected to take passengers from London to New York in just 3 hours.
