CEO Urs Rickenbacher cited the corona crisis as the main reason for the job cuts in Radio SRF’s regional journal. The company had its main focus on the global aviation industry. Since the majority of the aircraft remained on the ground due to the corona pandemic, they also needed less new textiles. This has had a massive impact on business since April.

In its communication, the union called on Rickenbacher to “bear social responsibility towards the employees in Langenthal and Melchnau”.
–
Nobody should be released into unemployment. This could be achieved, for example, with generous early retirement, as provided for by the textile industry GAV. Lantal is also subject to this collective employment contract. The employees are also to be supported in training and further education.
–
As part of the consultation process, the union wants to support the personnel commission and the workforce in order to “preserve as many jobs as possible”. The planned consultation period of three weeks is however too short, Unia complains.

The Lantal Textiles company is active in the manufacture and marketing of textiles and services for international air, bus and train traffic as well as for VIP jets and super yachts.

The company, founded in 1886, has a consolidated turnover of 105 million francs on its homepage, the export share is 94 percent. Lantal employs a total of almost 700 people in Switzerland, the United States, France, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Germany and the United Kingdom. (SDA)
