Airlines are delaying the start of summer routes

During space Christmas, Norwegian launched 60 direct routes from Norway this summer. In February, SAS announced that it would open 180 routes from Scandinavia through the spring and summer. Foreign companies such as KLM also had plans to increase the offer. It will not happen, writes Aftenposten / E24.

The extension of the global travel council to 1 July means that both the number of routes and the frequency will be lower than what the companies hoped for a few months ago.

– It is still the case that we are dependent on travel restrictions easing and the demand for airline tickets picking up, explains press manager John Eckhoff in SAS.

Norwegian has got rid of two thirds of the fleet – from 140 down to 51 aircraft. This means that the company will not be back to the old level, no matter what restrictions apply.

– There is still uncertainty about how everything develops. This means that we may have to adjust the route program further, writes communications manager Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson in Norwegian in an email.
