Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto at Prabowo Hambalang’s residence, Bogor today, Saturday (13/3/21). However, the two of them met not in their capacity as Ministers, but rather the Party Chairperson, Prabowo from Gerindra and Airlangga from Golkar.
Reporting from CNNIndonesia.com, Airlangga’s arrival received a warm welcome from the Gerindra Party drum band team who performed the song Mars, the Golkar Party and Gerindra. The greeting made Airlangga amazed.
“I was very surprised, the welcome was extraordinarily festive,” said Airlangga.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita accompanied Airlangga along with several other Golkar party officials, namely the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali and Golkar Party Secretary General Lodewijk F. Paulus.
“At the dinner table, they both discussed geopolitical issues in depth. Both leaders have the same view that the interests of the nation and the country are paramount,” said Agus.
Agus, who was only two days ago in Japan to meet with automotive company bosses, explained that both Prabowo and Airlangga were committed to supporting President Joko Widodo’s government.
“The Golkar and Gerindra parties are ready to fully support President Jokowi’s policies,” he said.
The two party leaders do have many other positions apart from being in the cabinet and the political world, for example in sports. Prabowo is the Chairman of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI). Meanwhile, Airlangga as Chairman of the Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PBWI).
One of the topics discussed by Prabowo and Airlangga was the seriousness of Indonesia to host the 2032 Olympics. Until now, the government is making preparations to submit nominations to host the 2032 Olympics.
In addition, there is also discussion regarding the continuation of the food estate project.
