“For example, in China where there is a geopolitical vaccine, it means that China must use the Chinese vaccine itself. Then in Europe it must be vaccinated against Europe,” he said.

Airlangga hopes that the Red and White vaccine will become an inclusive vaccine. Airlangga stated that the vaccine could be produced and used by anyone.

“This vaccination cannot be politicized and there can be no political nationality. We ask that this vaccine become public goods,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Red and White vaccine developed by Unair Surabaya entered the second phase of preclinical testing, by testing it on large macaque animals last June. Unair Chancellor Mohammad Nasih said that Unair researchers had injected the vaccine to 15 macaques.

This number is still below the target of the second phase of the preclinical test which should have been carried out on 30 individuals. Previously, Unair had completed the first stage of preclinical testing on mice.
