Airlangga Hartanto Says Jokowi Asks for MSME Loans to be Increased to 30 Percent – ​​FAJAR

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – During the Covid-19 pandemic, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) became one of the business sectors that experienced shocks. Therefore, the government has issued various policies so that MSMEs can recover and support the national economy.

In a closed meeting with bankers at the Presidential Palace today (8/9), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that the portion of lending to MSMEs continue to be increased. This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who accompanied Jokowi in the meeting.

Airlangga said that President Jokowi wants credit distribution for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector to increase to 30 percent of total bank loans by 2024. Currently, the average lending to the MSME sector is only about 18 percent of the total national credit.

“The President’s directive hopes that the banking sector can provide credit to MSMEs year on year now an average of around 18 percent. Therefore, the president requested that credit for MSMEs be increased to 30 percent in 2024,” said Airlangga at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/9).
