The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus wants to hire 13,000 extra employees this year in order to alleviate the staff shortage. According to the company’s personnel director, it also looks at dismissed personnel from tech companies.
Most additional staff are hired in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain. Airbus is ramping up production to meet the high demand for new aircraft.
The company is also looking for extra people for digital activities and technological developments, among other things. Airbus currently employs more than 130,000 people worldwide. Last year, the aircraft manufacturer also hired thousands of extra people.
Partly due to staff shortages, Airbus had to adjust production targets downwards several times last year, CEO Guillaume Faury said earlier this month. The company also suffered from supply chain issues, which hampered production.
