– I can confirm that the plane had to land in Tromsø. It should have flown to Mehamn, but received a warning in the cockpit which meant that the staff had to declare “mayday”, says press officer in Widerøe, Catharina Solli.
The plane made a controlled landing in Tromsø, with all of the emergency vehicles present at the airport for safety reasons.
Solli does not know what kind of problems led to the plane having to land in Tromsø.
The plane, with a total of 39 seats, had 12 passengers on board, as well as three crew members.
– What is happening now is that the passengers will go to the terminal area, where they can meet the pilots and ask questions about the landing, if they wish, says Solli.
