Airbus orders in March: Latam and Kuwait Airways want less A350

Airbus received cancellations on several models in March. The aircraft manufacturer was able to end the month with a plus thanks to new orders.

Airbus had to accept several cancellations in March, but also received new orders. The biggest minus comes from Latam. The South American airline wants only two Airbus A350-1000s instead of eight and only 13 A350s900s instead of 17. Delta Air Lines had actually announced that it would accept Latam 14 Airbus A350s. Delta’s order for the model is unchanged in the Airbus order book.

Kuwait Airways also reduced its order from ten to just five Airbus A350-900s. In return, an unknown customer ordered ten A350-900s. For the A330-900, the leasing company Avolon reduced its order from 13 to just ten copies. CIT Leasing only wants 25 of the long-haul jets instead of the previous 26. There were no new A330 orders.

36 aircraft delivered

The leasing company Aercap placed an order for 25 A320 Neo and 25 A321 Neo in March. It was not so important that other customers canceled orders for seven A320 Neo and two A321 Neo. For the A220-300, Airbus canceled an old order from Saudi Gulf for 16 aircraft that should have disappeared from the books a year ago.

Despite the cancellations, the European aircraft manufacturer ultimately increased the number of its net orders from 274 at the end of February to 290 at the end of March. Airbus delivered 36 aircraft in March. Since the beginning of the year, customers have taken over a total of 122 Airbus aircraft. Due to the corona crisis, Airbus is now significantly reducing production.
