Paris, Dec 16 (.) .- Airbus (PA 🙂 “remains concerned” about the possibility of a no-deal Brexit and, as a “responsible company”, considers that possibility in its planning to mitigate the risks that this situation it could entail for your activity.

Sources from the European aeronautical group, which manufactures the wings of its aircraft in particular in the United Kingdom, told Efe this Wednesday that they continue to work “to further mitigate the risks” associated with Brexit.

In a context in which London and Brussels have decided to extend the negotiations while the fateful date of January 1 approaches, when the final exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union must be formalized, the sources indicated that the aeronautical giant is trying to achieve greater clarity and reduce uncertainty.

Especially with regard to regulations on both sides of the English Channel in order to “adequately plan for the future.”

“The shape of the future relationship between the EU and the UK remains of crucial importance for Airbus and its employees,” underlined the aerospace manufacturer.

Airbus has already dedicated tens of millions of euros to the constitution of reserves of components with a view to possible problems in customs controls as of January 1.

But even so, a departure without an agreement would have a strong impact on its activity, especially in air and surface transport of its components, as well as in the supply chain.

The company has 25 work centers in the United Kingdom, with two large plants in Broughton and Filton, and a total of 12,500 employees that generate about 6 billion pounds of revenue (about 6.65 billion euros).

At the beginning of 2019, when the relationship between the UK and the EU was already being negotiated after Brexit was formalized, Airbus had threatened London with the possibility of shifting the manufacture of aircraft wings to continental Europe.
