airBaltic will take back employees who had to be laid off due to the pandemic

The Latvian airline airBaltic announces that by the summer of 2022 it plans to hire an additional 320 flight crew – 120 pilots and 200 flight attendants. airBaltic plans to recruit mainly former pilots who had to be made redundant due to the pandemic and airBaltic Pilot Academy graduates.

airBaltic Martin Gauss, Executive Director (Martin gauss) states: ‘We are pleased to see a growing demand for travel, and this year we have launched flights to various new destinations. Given the increase in vaccination coverage worldwide and the review of travel restrictions, we are ready to expand our flights again. That’s why we’ve decided to hire our former staff back by next summer and add new staff to our crew by next summer. “

“We plan to receive eight more in 2022 Airbus A220-300 airplanes. By increasing the number of crew members now, we will continue our preparations for a fleet of 40 aircraft, which will be reached by the end of 2022, ”adds Gauss.

In addition to pilots, the airline will also invite experienced flight attendants as well as candidates with no previous knowledge of the aviation industry to apply. The staff selection process will start this autumn and will be implemented in stages until the beginning of summer 2022. airBaltic currently employs a total of 1366 people, including 200 pilots and 342 crew members.
