Air rifle Ria died at the age of 101 | Inland

That reports Omroep Brabant. Ria was sixteen years old when she shot a picture of herself for the first time in a shooting gallery at the Tilburg fair. That was in 1936. It wasn’t common for girls to do that at the time, but Ria didn’t care much about that. Ria was a free-spirited, independent woman. After training as a pharmacist’s assistant, she opened her own drugstore before she was thirty.

Hundredth birthday

Due to the corona pandemic, there was no fair in Tilburg on her hundredth birthday. But a shooting gallery came especially for her to the grounds of the care center where she lived. From her wheelchair ‘Airgun Ria’ moored, and… hit!

In 2021 the children’s book ‘Oma Luchtbuks’ was published, for which Ria van Dijk had been the model. “And I don’t even have grandchildren,” she confessed at the presentation. Ria van Dijk remained unmarried all her life.
