Air quality: The Tour Perret in Grenoble has become the “beacon” of air quality in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

In place since February, and until mid-May 2022, the emblematic Tour Perret in Grenoble lights up every evening from 19h to 23h, to indicate the air quality index for the following day.Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, an observatory dedicated to air monitoring, set up this experimental action as part of Grenoble, Green Capital of Europe 2022.

This is a first step in raising awareness before considering changes in practices and behaviors. A very nice initiative” indicates, in a press release, Pierre Verri, vice-president energy transition and PCAEM of Grenoble Alpes Métropole.

Goal : raise public awareness so that everyone adapts their daily activity according to the color indicated. From “Good” to “very bad”, six colors have been chosen to describe the air quality: blue, green, yellow, red, purple and magenta.

Supported by Grenoble-Alpes Metropolis and the city of Grenoble, Atmo wishes to perpetuate this action so that this information is “visible to all throughout the year”.
