Air New Zealand Passenger Fined for Urinating in Cup on Flight from Auckland to Sydney

It took time before the passengers were allowed to leave the Air New Zealand plane after landing, and the male passenger (53) felt compelled to pour the water into a cup, writes The Independent.

The incident happened last December after a three-hour flight from Auckland to Sydney.

In February, the man was fined 600 Australian dollars, or around NOK 4,250, for inappropriate behaviour.

– Obviously drunk

The case became public knowledge on Friday this week, after a female passenger, who reported the incident, allowed herself to be interviewed by the news website Stuff.

The woman has said that she and her 15-year-old daughter were sitting next to the man, who suddenly had the urge to pee in a cup.

And he must have done that several times.

– He sat next to us and pulled out his penis at least three times, she says.

According to the woman, the man was obviously drunk, and is said to have spilled “a good amount” of urine on a flight attendant when he stumbled on his way to the flight toilet with a full cup.

Picked up by police

It appears from a statement from the Australian Federal Police that police officers escorted the man off the plane because he had “urinated in a cup while sitting in the seat”.

Air New Zealand does not wish to comment on individual cases.

On a general basis, the airline states that between five and ten passengers a month are expelled for inappropriate behavior on board.
