Air France-KLM to Operate Single-Aisle A321neo on Transatlantic Route from Milan Linate

As for the length of the runway, and this is something new, on the transatlantic route, the Air France-KLM group would operate with a single-aisle A321neo, an aircraft compatible with the runway at Milan Linate airport.

Ben Smith’s hope lies in the EU negotiations on the green light for the marriage between ITA Airways and Lufthansa, which could lead to a modification of the “Linate” decree. The use of latest generation aircraft such as the A321neo, quieter than others and with a reduced impact on the environment, could greatly facilitate things.

A direct flight would of course boost traffic between Milan Linate and New York which, even with the obligation of a flight with a stopover, already attracts 100 passengers per day.

For Air France-KLM, flying a single-aisle A321neo on the transatlantic would be an operational revolution. Never seen before.

During the Group’s mega Airbus order, the A321neo was intended exclusively for KLM. However, there is no doubt that depending on the choices of the operator within the Group, there could be changes.

Under what colors would the line to New York be operated? Air France ? KLM? Or even Transavia? Would crews be based?

Will the plans for flight restrictions in Amsterdam modify the strategy of the Group which, until now, had a hub policy (CDG and Schiphol) concerning intercontinental connections from Europe?

These questions are already being asked, even if nothing has been done yet.
