On Monday, the airline Air France-KLM announced that it plans to order 50 Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 aircraft, with an option for another 40 aircraft.
– The company’s aircraft fleet is significantly renewed with this order. The Airbus A350 is ideal for us because of its outstanding performance, including lower noise levels, higher fuel efficiency and cost effectiveness compared to previous models,” said Air France-KLM CEO Benjamin Smith.
The first deliveries are expected in 2026, according to Dagens Industri.
This new order will be added to the existing order from Air France-KLM for 41 Airbus A350-900 aircraft to Air France, of which 22 have been delivered to date.
As of today, the company has a total of 533 aircraft in its fleet, and with the new order they now have over 220 aircraft on order. The company aims for 64 percent of the fleet to consist of “new generation aircraft” by 2028.
Both Air France-KLM and Airbus are listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. Share prices fell by 3.7 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively on Monday.
