L’the offer is too good to be true. A new scam is widespread on WhatsApp these days. “It’s Black Friday for Air France gifts! promise to usurpers pretending to be the airline. After clicking on the link, you come to a questionnaire that directs you to a gift box, which gives you the chance to win two return tickets to Europe, reports BFMTV.

This is obviously a phishing attempt, or phishing in French. Not surprisingly, all participants in the so-called contest are winners. But, to collect their free tickets, they have to share the contest link to five groups or twenty friends on WhatsApp. They are then forced to enter their email address on the site. After these last two manipulations, the scam has achieved its goal: to recover your data. The counterfeiters can then resell them to whoever wishes.

Air France reports a “fraudulent site”

Air France reacted to this phishing campaign by explaining that there was no competition behind it. “Dear customers, many of you have reported a fraudulent site to us by inviting you to participate in a fake contest on various platforms, including WhatsApp. Air France is not the cause and invites you to be vigilant, “the airline wrote on Twitter. The company’s identity has been impersonated in the past for similar scams. In 2018, fraudulent sites surfaced that also offered free flights or al price of one euro.
