“Our Air Defense Forces shot down an IL-76 with an enemy landing in the Vasilkov area. This is revenge for Luhansk in 2014. Death to the enemies!” he wrote.
Center for Strategic Communications clarifiedthat the wreckage of the downed plane fell near the village of Kalinovka.
The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Il-76 MD attacked the Ukrainian Su-27 fighter.
REFERENCE. The IL-76 can carry 145 (225 in the two-deck version) soldiers with personal weapons or provide the ejection of 126 people from the landing group. The aircraft can transport the entire range of military equipment of the airborne divisions. One Il-76 can parachute, on landing platforms, up to four pieces of equipment (BMD-1, BMD-2, BTR-D or GAZ-66).
“Now heavy fighting continues in the city of Vasilkov, Kiev region, where the invaders are trying to land troops from the air! Glory to the Ukrainian pilots!” – said in the message.
According to the plan of the invaders, which became known SBU, the occupiers planned to send up to 10,000 paratroopers to Ukraine by Il-76 planes in order to seize and control the main authorities.
