AIR CORONAVIRUSES – Delta will continue blocking middle seats until September 30

The US airline Delta reported on Friday of its decision to continue blocking the selection of the cabin’s central seats until at least September 30 as a preventive measure in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and to “guarantee a safe experience for customers”.

Through a note, Delta said they will cover those seats and will limit them to 50% in First Class, 60% in the Main Cabin and 75% in Delta One.

In addition, they will continue to block the selection of some aisle seats on aircraft with 2 × 2 seating configurations and expand the number of flights on those routes with “increasing” demand, especially where available flights are completed.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was unleashed, Delta has started making face masks mandatory for its crew and customers, as well as the installation of Plexiglass protectors at check-in and boarding desks and physical distance meters.

They have also insisted on the use of industrial-grade HEPA circulation filters that according to Delta extract “more than 99.99% of the particles, including viruses.”

On the other hand, Delta indicated that they would extend the exemption of the flight change fee until June 30, with the option for customers to change their plans for one year from the date of purchase.

Since the pandemic began, Delta has recorded a net loss of $ 534 million in the first quarter of the year following a 95% reduction in air traffic in the United States.

However, in recent days, like other airlines, it has experienced a significant rise in Wall Street of up to 11% due to signs of economic recovery, although so far this year Delta has lost almost 40% of its value on the New York stock exchange.
