The airline Air China will acquire 18 Airbus A320neo units AFS Investments Inc, a subsidiary of GECAS, the company said in a statement.
The order has a value of $ 2.24 billion and boosts Airbus presence in Chinathe airline noted. Air China is expected to receive all of its aircraft by 2022.
According to Air China, the family A320neo will make it more competitive in the recovery of the domestic market of the Covid-19 crisis, and that low financing costs and a favorable exchange rate helped to finalize the business.
The last time Air China announced a purchase with Airbus was in 2019, when it acquired 20 A350 units.
Currently, airplanes that compete with A320neo, Boeing 737 MAXs remain grounded in China, given that the authorities of this country have not given their endorsement for the units to operate commercially, as has happened in other countries.
