Air Canada today announced a new service between Montreal and Fort McMurray that will launch in June.

For summer 2023, Air Canada will also restore services and increase the frequency of flights on popular domestic routes, strengthening its Canadian network in the wake of the pandemic.

“As the flag carrier, Air Canada will offer an enhanced summer schedule to Canadian destinations, which will strengthen our role as a provider of essential routes to coast-to-coast Canadians,” said Mark Galardo, senior vice president – President Network Revenue Planning and Management, Air Canada.

“Our new Montreal–Fort McMurray service provides easy access from Eastern Canada to one of Alberta’s major economic regions. And through the cautious reinstatement of suspended routes and increased frequencies for others, we are improving our customers’ options for domestic travel. »

Next summer, the carrier will offer 97 domestic routes in 51 countries, making it “Canada’s largest carrier, with the largest passenger seating capacity.”

  • The new service between Montreal and Fort McMurray will begin June 20, 2023.
  • The flights will be operated all year round, three times a week, by Air Canada Rouge with a 136-seat Airbus A319 aircraft in a two-cabin configuration: Premium Rouge and Economy Class.
  • With the addition of Montreal to the service it already offers to Toronto, Air Canada will be the only carrier to connect Fort McMurray nonstop with Quebec and Ontario.
