After five years, Air Canada is resuming its non-stop flights between Ottawa and London-Heathrow, which will operate during the summer season. Tickets are already on sale through the Canadian airline’s regular channels and travel agencies. The airline’s last operation between the Canadian and British capitals was in March 2020, when the route was suspended due to the pandemic.
For the summer season of 2025, Air Canada has 63 weekly flights scheduled to London Heathrow from six Canadian cities. The airline also has services from Toronto-Pearson, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Halifax.
Air Canada is the second airline to offer a non-stop connection from Ottawa to Europe, complementing Air France’s seasonal service from Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
«We are excited to consolidate Air Canada’s leadership in serving our nation’s capital with the resumption of transatlantic services beginning next spring. In addition to being one of London’s premier destinations, Heathrow is one of the world’s leading gateways and home to Air Canada’s largest international operations. Conveniently located alongside our Star Alliance partner airlines at the Queen’s Terminal, Air Canada offers its customers easy connections to a wide range of more than 30 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa with our partner airlines.“s,” he said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, Air Canada.
“We look forward to the upcoming delivery of Air Canada’s new Airbus A321XLR fleet. The economics, optimal cabin size and range of the XLR, which is expected to begin arriving in late 2025, will allow us to consider operating this important international route with increased frequencies and potentially year-round service.”“, he added.
Air Canada’s resumption of its Ottawa-London Heathrow service complements its expansion from the Canadian capital to popular leisure destinations. The Canadian airline will have a schedule of up to 229 weekly flights to and from Ottawa with a wide range of regional, domestic, international and cross-border flights.
