Air Austral and Kenya Airways have signed a code-sharing agreement aimed at facilitating their customers’ travel between Africa and the Indian Ocean and vice versa, and offering them a wider choice of destinations in addition to their respective hubs in Nairobi and Saint-Denis de La Réunion.
More choice of destination
From this Thursday, November 3, 2022, the two airlines will thus be able to offer their customers a wider choice of destinations in addition to their respective hubs, which are Nairobi in Kenya for Kenya Airways, and Saint-Denis de La Réunion for Air Southern.
Kenya Airways will offer its customers new destinations in the Indian Ocean on codeshare operated flights with Air Austral: Reunion via Mauritius and / or Johannesburg, Madagascar (subject to approval by the relevant authorities).
Air Austral, for its part, will now offer its customers, via the airports of Mauritius, Antananarivo and / or Johannesburg, Nairobi in Kenya and a wide choice of African destinations, as well as New York via Nairobi, on flights operated in codeshare basis with Kenya Airways.
“Air Austral is delighted with this partnership which opens new doors between Africa and the Indian Ocean through our hubs in Nairobi on the one hand and Reunion Roland Garros airport on the other. It demonstrates our willingness to work together to further strengthen our offer and thus further contribute to the influence of Reunion Island internationally. “ said Joseph Bréma, President and CEO of Air Austral.
One journey and one ticket
On these code-sharing lines, customers will benefit from a single fare and a single ticket for the entire journey. They will also be able to check-in with their own baggage from the city of departure until arrival at their destination. Club Austral class passengers and holders of a MyCapricorn PREMIUM or EXCLUSIVE card will be able to access the lounge free of charge on flights operated by Kenya Airways.
As a member of the MyCapricorn program, Air Austral passengers will be able to accumulate points on Kenya Airways operated flights connecting Mauritius, Antananarivo or Johannesburg to Nairobi.
Through this privileged partnership, the airlines are committed to developing the codeshare agreement, increasing connectivity options and offering a wider choice of services to their customers.
Flights are already bookable on the websites of the airlines and by Air Austral and Kenya Air Airways agencies and / or by travel agencies.
“This partnership gives us the opportunity to offer our clients access to multiple destinations in the islands of the Indian Ocean and opens our country to tourism opportunities for visitors to the islands. This is in line with our commitment to provide greater connectivity, market access to our customers and growth through our partners “, said Julius Thairu, Commercial Director and Customer of Kenya Airways
