The flight alert goes off in large parts of Ukraine
The air alert goes off on the night of Tuesday in Kyiv and in around two-thirds of Ukraine, writes Reuters.
In Kyiv, the air force is said to have repelled several attacks.
An air alert has been issued for most of central and eastern Ukraine, from Vinnytsia in the west to all the eastern regions, Kherson in the south and the Odesa region on the Black Sea coast, the news agency writes.
The military leadership in Kyiv writes on Telegram that the air defense systems “are in action on the outskirts of Kyiv”.
The Ukrainian defense says 16 rockets hit Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa from Sunday to Monday. In addition, they report 61 attacks and 52 rocket salvos against other Ukrainian positions and inhabited areas.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko says Russia launched 60 Iranian-made drones overnight Monday, 36 of them toward the capital, and that all were shot down.
