The Saint-Etienne midfielder is a player who greatly frustrates supporters. He struggles to chain matches because of recurring physical problems. Yet each of his entries remind how much he could be essential within the 11 Etienne. Between talent and injuries, it is regularly difficult to have a clear opinion about him.
The course
A product from Saint-Etienne
Moueffek began his career in Saint Maurice exile in Isère (near Vienna). He then joined CASCOL Oullins in the Rhône before joining ASSE in 2012. Aimen is therefore starting his tenth season at the club. He climbed all the rungs and was even part of the victorious generation of the Gambardella. Also, he will be throughout his training with Saliba, Benkhedim and Bajic. At the dawn of his 18th birthday, he signed professional for 3 seasons with his training club despite an almost white season due to injuries. Despite this, his performances are often impressive when he plays. Short of rhythm and unable to chain matches, he delivered top-level performances. Like this match at Auxerre in Gambardella where the greens play almost 1 hour at 10 against 11 and still manage to come back to win on penalties after being led 3-1 in numerical inferiority.
The professional world is getting closer
The club believes in Aimen, it is doing the summer recovery with Ghislain Printant’s group. Once again, his body quickly caught up with him and he couldn’t make a series of matches. He plays with the reserve team but his season is once again truncated by a partial presence. Finally, the trigger will appear with Claude Puel. Castres offers him his first professional minutes at the Vélodrome. He steps into an unusual right-back position. Faithful to his qualities, he delivers a strong match full of generosity. The greens win after 40 years without a victory on Olympian soil.
2 seasons but too few minutes
The match against Marseille launched his professional career. He will participate in 19 matches under the tutelage of Puel. He will only play 732 minutes over these 19 games, the equivalent of 7 full games. Last season, he started the year with a wrist injury which sidelined him for more than 3 months. He returns against Angers (2-2). His return coincides with the best series of the first leg 2 draws and 2 wins (Metz, Angers, Clermont and Troyes). Upon his arrival, Dupraz counts on Aimen and promotes him several times in a press conference. Finally he will only take part in bouts of matches when he is not in the infirmary. His season ends with a total of around 600 minutes played in all competitions, or 6 and a half full games.

And now ?
Extended in May 2021, his contract runs until June 2024. The club is aware of Moueffek’s potential and would like to make him a strong man in its system. Evaluated at 2M by transfermarkt, he could see his rating soar in the event of a full season. ASSE could finally benefit from his talent. Moreover, in a transfer window period where several of the players in his position are likely to leave (Neyou, Youssouf, Camara and especially Gourna), he will have the door open to win in the 11 of Batlles.
income honed
While he missed the preparation last season, he is indeed present for this one. The Batlles coach group carried out the usual VMA tests this Friday. Tests that will allow the staff to precisely define the possibilities of each and to adapt the workloads accordingly. In this exercise, the Franco-Moroccan showed himself to his advantage, as did new recruit Dylan Chambost. From there to hope that this is the year of hatching? That’s all we wish for the 21-year-old!
.@ChambostDylanamazing in physical tests !!
& let’s not even talk about Aïmen Moueffek who is very sharp. (If his body leaves him alone, it can hurt a lot) #ASSE
