Aimé Hennart, 78 years old and from Orange, settled in the historic district a stone’s throw from the Notre-Dame-de-Bethléem church, ten years ago. He started painting at the age of 15 and then during a three-year military spell he studied drawing in Weingarten, Germany.
He continued his artistic quest by producing paintings of figurative painting, while looking for a more personal style, he was then 20 years old. First attracted by impressionist painters, his art evolved towards the expressionist style, that is to say that everyone, in front of a painting, can interpret it in their own way. He then decided to present his works to the public with a first exhibition in Orange in 1985, at the municipal theater. Exhibitions then followed in different cities of the region, but also in Honfleur, Bordeaux, Vendôme, Avignon, Lille, Collioure or even Clermont-Ferrand.
On these occasions, he was awarded various prizes: 1st prize from the Fine Arts club, 1st prize from the city of Avignon, 1st prize from the Drôme regional council and 1st prize from the town of Pallud. He was awarded a gold medal at the Nyons painting festival and gold in Castillon-du-Gard in 2007.
His paintings have joined several private collections in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Canada, England, Switzerland and Spain.
The artist has not exhibited for ten years, he is listed in the book Akoun painters with a reference price of € 1,200 to € 1,500 for the 20F format. In addition to painting, he also produced woodcarvings.
