AIK has had a tough season and is involved in the bottom battle in the Allsvenskan. At the same time, forward John Guidetti, 31, has not gained momentum in his goalscoring, as he scored one goal in 14 appearances this year in the Allsvenskan. In recent rounds, there hasn’t been much playing time either, as he has started in one of the last four series matches.
On Wednesday, Guidetti got the chance from the start in the 3-0 victory against Dalkurd FF away in the Swedish Cup, but left the field injured after a little more than half an hour of play. Guidetti’s right calf was heavily wound, and he needed help from the field.
Now the Football Channel learns that it is a calf injury for Guidetti, and that the forward now looks set to be out for several months, which in such cases would cause him to miss the rest of the season.
When Fotbollskanalen reaches AIK’s sporting director Thomas Berntsen regarding whether Guidetti will be out for several months, he chooses to refer to Victor Lyberg, medical officer.
“You need to talk to our medical officer Victor Lyberg,” writes the sports manager to Fotbollskanalen.
Guidetti joined AIK from Spanish Alavés last year for a contract over 2025. In total, he has scored ten goals in 38 games with “Gnaget”.
AIK recently strengthened the attacking position, with the arrival of Ioannis Pittas, 27, from Apollon Limassol. He has since started together with Dino Besirovic in AIK’s attack for the last two rounds in the Allsvenskan.
AIK, which is in the qualifying position, will face IFK Norrköping away in the Allsvenskan on Monday.
The soccer channel has sought AIK’s Victor Lyberg, through press officer Stefan Mellerborg, but without success.
