Team captain Alexander Milosevic was in AIK’s match squad for Saturday’s Swedish Cup meeting with Gefle at Tele2 Arena. But when the black and yellow starting line-up was presented just over an hour before kick-off, the centre-back was missing.
The 32-year-old was even dropped from the match squad.
“Milosevic leaves the squad due to an upper body injury – he is replaced by (Collins) Sichenje,” wrote AIK on X.
In a text message to Fotbollskanalen, press manager Stefan Mellerborg announces that it is not a serious injury.
“A pure precaution after a small blow during training,” writes Mellerborg.
At the press conference after AIK’s 1-0 victory, head coach Henning Berg gives the following message about “Milo”:
– We don’t know if it’s the head or the neck. If there was a cup final, I think he would have played, says the AIK coach at a press conference.
– It is early in the season and we do not want to take any risks with his history. Now he has a week to train before the match against Kalmar.
Milosevic is a key player in “The Gnat” but has had problems with concussions in recent seasons. In total, there were 24 Allsvenskan starts last year.
