Art. An exhibition of paintings and drawings by Aija Jurjāne (1944–2015) will be held at the Latvian National Art Museum Queen’s kitchens. Her oeuvre has never before been collected in a large-scale exhibition. Aija Jurjāni can be called one of the first gentle voices in the field of feminist ideas in Latvian art. Throughout her life, the main theme of the author’s paintings has been her family and everyday family life. The conceptual frame of the exhibition is made up of seven different kitchens – ideas and physical spaces that harmoniously transform into one another. Turning to the kitchen as a full-fledged carrier of content and form, Aija Jurjāne has proven that a woman’s space is very different from a man’s space.

Concert. Monday, March 4, at the club Palladium Riga legendary US hip-hop groups will perform Wu-Tang Clan member and founder of GZA, also known as The Genius. He will play music with the band The Phunky Nomads. GZA is considered to be Wu-Tang Clan spiritual leader, and in his solo career as well, the hip-hop classic, now 57, has always allowed himself to deviate from the storylines favored by other rappers in favor of scientific-philosophical themes.

Music. In March, the music of Rihard Dubras will be heard in many places in Latvia. These concerts, in which premieres are also expected, are dedicated to the composer’s sixtieth anniversary, which he celebrated on February 28. On Friday, March 1, the opuses of Rihard Dubras will be interpreted in Riga Dom by the mixed choir of the Riga Dom Choir School, violinist Marta Spārniņa, saxophonist Aigars Raumanis and organist Aigars Reinis under the direction of conductor Jurģ Cābulis.

Premiere. Director Edmund Freiberg has staged Henrik Ibsen’s play at the National Theatre Heda Gablere. Title role in the show Hedda Gabler.
