“AI Cameras to Enforce Traffic Fines in Kerala from Tomorrow”

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When AI cameras open their eyes across the state from tomorrow, road mistakes will also have to pay heavy fines. A fully automated traffic enforcement system is being implemented considering the difficulty of vehicle blocking inspection. Police, Excise, Motor Vehicle and GST departments will share data and footage through cameras.

Major penalties

AI cameras also capture the movement of vehicles in a video scanning software system. A fine of Rs 2,000 will be levied for driving while using a mobile phone. Major fines are over speeding- Rs 1500, no seat belt and helmet- Rs 500, no rear view mirror- Rs 250 and triple ride- Rs 2000.

Helmets for all heads

Relmat is mandatory for all two-wheeler riders except children below 9 months of age. Currently it is stated that above 4 years is enough but this will change.
