AI Cameras Exempt Children Below 12 on Two-Wheelers: Transport Minister Antony Raju

Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has said that AI cameras will exempt children below 12 years of age who are the third passengers in two-wheelers. The Center has been approached seeking relaxation in the matter. The decision of the transport department is that the fine will not be charged until the final decision is taken. Meanwhile, helmets have also been made mandatory for children below 12 years of age. The minister said that all children above the age of 4 should wear helmets while traveling on two-wheelers.

The Center has not responded to the state’s letter regarding travel with children on two-wheelers. The minister said that a decision will be taken after receiving the reply. Laws are for human beings and only decisions will be taken accordingly. Fines will be imposed for violations from 8 am on June 5. 692 cameras are operational and 34 more cameras need to be installed. These changes are being made to make the road safety laws in the state more stringent.

The government has done necessary publicity regarding the AI camera. I don’t know if anyone has done unnecessary publicity. If there is a taint of corruption then why is the opposition not dealing with it legally. Antony Raju also criticized this as part of the fight between the opposition leader and the former opposition leader.

There is no basis in the allegations made by the opposition. At least let them face it legally, Keltron has implemented this in the same way they have handled projects in the past. Keltron is suspected of being part of the government. The minister added that this is a project that does not cost the Kerala government a single rupee and the entire amount has been raised by Keltron itself.
