Thiruvananthapuram: On the first day of the AI camera set up to issue fines for traffic violations, 28,891 violations were detected. This is the figure from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday. Kollam district recorded the highest number of violations (4,778). Malappuram also has the least number (545).

Thiruvananthapuram (4362), Pathanamthitta (1177), Alappuzha (1288), Kottayam (2194), Idukki (1483), Ernakulam (1889), Thrissur (3995), Palakkad (1007), Kozhikode (1550), Wayanad (1146), Kannur (2437) and Kasaragod (1040) were found to be violating the road rules on Monday.

A.I. Transport Minister Antony Raju said that the number of traffic violations has reduced significantly on the first day of camera operation, which is a good sign. Last April, A.I. Violations have come down to 1.93 lakh yesterday from 4.5 lakh the day before the official inauguration of the cameras and 2.8 lakh on the day of the inauguration. But today from 8 am to 5 pm, there were only 28,891 violations in Kerala, the minister said.

After the installation of the camera, the number of violations is much less than during the awareness period, which is an indication that everyone has started obeying the traffic rules keeping the traffic safety in mind. Violations are expected to decrease again in the coming days. The minister also said that everyone’s cooperation is requested for the effort to create a road accident-free Kerala.
