Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan move on to the quarterfinals Malaysia Masters 2023. The veteran doubles won in straight games over the Taipei pair.
Ahsan/Hendra faced Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan at the Axiata Arena, Thursday (25/5/2023) evening WIB in the round of 16 match. The Indonesian doubles won 21-17 and 21-14 within 30 minutes.
The Daddies, nicknamed Ahsan/Hendra, started the first game trailing 3-8. But slowly caught up and was ahead 11-10 at the interval.
The momentum was maintained by Ahsan/Hendra to open the distance 19-14. Without much difficulty, they closed the first game 21-17.
The situation in the second game is almost the same. Ahsan/Hendra were left behind 4-7 at the start. But nine straight points knocked the third seed out of position and took a 13-7 lead.
Appearing calm and measured, Ahsan/Hendra maintained the advantage and locked in a 21-14 victory. They are the first Indonesian men’s doubles to qualify for the quarter-finals at this tournament, with another pair that could potentially follow, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.
Ahsan/Hendra will next face the host doubles Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Masters 2023.
