Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan couldn’t get past the first round Indonesia Open 2022. See you Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi (China), The Daddies had to admit the superiority of their opponent with a score of 17-21, 22-24.
Playing at Istora Senayan, Wednesday (15/6/2022), the Chinese pair were able to lead 2-0 in the first game. Ahsan/Hendra equalized to 2-2, but Liu/Ou moved away again to 4-2.
Ahsan/Hendra were again able to equalize the score to 4-4, but Liu/Ou moved away 7-5. One smash from Ahsan managed to reduce the distance to 6-7. Hendra’s strike into the right corner of the Chinese field of play then made the score 7-7.
But Liu/Ou didn’t lose his mind. They managed to take the points needed to close the interval with an 11-8 advantage.
After the break, Ahsan/Hendra had narrowed the gap to 10-11, but Liu/Ou managed to get away with a 14-11 advantage, then 17-14. The first set finally belonged to the Chinese pair with a score of 21-17 after Hendra’s slow stroke hit the net.
In the second game, the chase for points was tighter. The distance between the two pairs of points was no more than two points. Liu/Ou also only lead 11-10 in the interval.
After the break, Ahsan/Hendra rose to a 15-12 lead. Liu/Ou managed to narrow the distance to 15-17, but one hit by Hendra in front of the net increased the number of the Indonesian pair to 18-15.
Liu/Ou didn’t give up. They actually added three points in a row, changing the score to 18-18. Ahsan/Hendra managed to add two points 20-18, but Liu/Ou again equalized the score to 20-20.
In the deuce phase, the two pairs drew 22-22, but Liu’s smash, which Hendra failed to return, made the score 23-22. Ahsan’s strike that hit the net ensured Liu/Ou won 24-22.
