The Ahold Delhaize group, active in Belgium with the Delhaize, Albert Heijn and bol.com brands, sold slightly less in the third quarter in Europe than during the same period in 2020. Its turnover is down there. 0.2%, to 7.043 billion euros, he announced Wednesday before market. A decrease to be put into perspective, the year 2020 having been particularly flourishing for the sector with confinements. Natural disasters have weighed on its growth in Europe, says the group, citing among others the floods in Belgium, the fires in Greece but also the particularly powerful tornado which struck Czechia in June.
However, there were positive points in Ahold Delhaize’s European market: Albert Heijn improved his market share and bol.com performed well; its turnover grew by 19%.
In the United States, Ahold Delhaize’s turnover swelled 2.9% to 11.5 billion euros.
The group slightly raises its forecasts for the entire year, and now expects a profit margin of 4.4% (against 4.3% previously).
