Ahok Urges Pertamina Subsidiaries to Move to Operational Areas

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Main Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok wants all of Pertamina’s subsidiary offices to move to operational areas according to their business sector.

This is because currently many of Pertamina’s subsidiaries or subholdings, including subholding subsidiaries, are renting luxury offices in Jakarta. In fact, the main working areas of Pertamina’s subsidiaries are outside Java.

He mentioned, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), whose head office is located on Jalan Dr. Satrio, Kuningan, South Jakarta. In fact, PHR has a working area on the island of Sumatra, which includes Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi and South Sumatra.

“We’re talking about hulu rokan, PHR, which is from Chevron. Chevron used to have an office in Jakarta because he wanted to have a representative for SKK matters and all kinds, then it was taken over (Blok Rokan by Pertamina). In the past, its head office was in a luxury building in Kuningan , continue to rent again. Why don’t you use the office in Rokan?,” Ahok said when met at the Ministry of BUMN, Jakarta, Tuesday (18/7/2023).

PHR is a subsidiary of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) upstream subholding. Apart from PHR, he also wants PHE’s other subsidiaries to have offices in their respective work areas, so there is no need to rent a head office in Jakarta.

PHE work areas are divided into 5 regions, including 40 domestic work areas consisting of 27 operator blocks and 13 non-operator blocks, as well as 27 international work areas in 13 countries covering Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

In detail, the 5 regional areas include the Sumatra Regional whose management is given to PHR, the Java Regional managed by PT Pertamina EP (PEP), the Kalimantan Regional managed by PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), the Eastern Indonesia Regional managed by PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC). , as well as the International Regional managed by PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP).

“These PTs only talk about regional I, II, III, IV (which are domestic). We do have PHE. So, if PHE wants to rent an office for Rp. 300 billion? Why don’t you just go there?,” said he.

Likewise with PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan, a subsidiary of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI). He wants the Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery, which currently has an office on Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, Kuningan, South Jakarta, to move to Balikpapan.

According to him, it is normal for a refinery business unit to have its head office near the project being worked on. Moreover, the Balikpapan Refinery project is the largest refinery in Indonesia, and there are Pertamina’s building assets there that can be used.

“If you are an oil person and the biggest refinery is in Balikpapan, why don’t you have the Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery office in Jakarta, isn’t that funny?” Ahok said.

“What is certain is like PHR, the Balikpapan Pertamina Refinery must be in Balikpapan, we (the refinery) are the biggest there,” he continued.

He added, in the East Kalimantan region (Kaltim), Pertamina also has abandoned assets there. Precisely in Samboja, Kutai Kartanegara Regency which is part of the Nusantara Capital Development Area (IKN).

According to him, the utilization of neglected assets needs to be optimized. Ahok said, by utilizing Pertamina’s assets in the working areas of each subsidiary, the company can save costs because it no longer needs to rent a building in Jakarta.

“What in East Kalimantan is imagined from the Dutch era, hundreds of years old, there was Samboja, now all of it is abandoned, meaning it is not used. Meanwhile upstream and refineries, renting an office here (Jakarta) is 92,000 square meters Rp. 382 billion, not yet operational, ” he explained,

“(In principle) why do you have a house, leave your house alone, occupy residents who are not entitled, then you rent a house, isn’t it funny? You work near your house. That’s all the logic,” Ahok concluded.
