He told Gibran that he had wanted to phase out premium fuel for a long time. In fact, when he was governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahok said that premiums had been eliminated.
However, he did not deny that until now people in other areas still rely on premium fuel, so that overall premium cannot be eliminated.
“I used to delete it in DKI, but in some areas it still needs it. That’s why we are creating a blue sky program to invite the public to educate them to leave premiums because the quality is not good,” he explained, quoted from Antara on Thursday (8/4). ).
Not only does it have a bad impact on the environment, he said that various countries have abandoned premium types due to the low premium quality.
Therefore, he encouraged the public to switch to BBM Pertalite or Pertamax.
“But in terms of economic needs, the people still need premium, that’s why this is gradual. In Central Java, very few people use premium. People are increasingly aware of the environment and the economic side, it’s better, Pertamax,” he explained.
Although trying to shift premium consumption to other higher-octane fuels, Ahok has not been able to confirm when the premium can be eliminated.
He said the decision was in the hands of ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif. “I don’t know, that’s the minister. If we just run it,” he replied.
