Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok predicts that the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) will be empty for the next 5 years. Ahok’s prediction was not without reason.
According to Ahok, the prediction emerged because many people now use electric vehicles. On the other hand, the development of electric vehicles is also being massively carried out by industry players.
“I’m sure it won’t take 5 years for a motorbike to replace electricity, not to mention if there is a low interest loan. I think gas stations can be empty immediately. Because the operation of the gas station is mostly filled by motorbikes,” say Ahok in Roaring to Win 2022, DBSI Spring Festival, Thursday (10/2/2022).
If the use of electric vehicles is widespread, the community’s need for fuel oil (BBM) will decrease. This certainly has an impact on Pertamina’s business which has many gas stations.
People’s dependence on gas stations will also fade because, according to the man who is often called BTP, electric vehicle users can charge their vehicles from their respective homes.
“Our experience is that if they don’t go out of town, they can just charge (electric vehicles) at home,” he saidnya.
For that reason, Ahok asked Pertamina is really thinking ahead regarding the retail business that it currently relies onto change. Ahok asked Pertamina to start building logistics andsupply chain.
“At least we control retail data, not only oil products, there is lubricant, there are others as well. But more important is the logistics networksupply chainI think it will be like that in the future,” said Ahok.
For the record, the governmenttargets to produce as many as 600 thousand electric cars in 2025 and 2.45 million units for electric motors in the same year. The government is also intensively building a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) and even developing an electric vehicle electric charge system at home.
