In the third round of the Champions League qualifiers, MFF scored two goals in the space of three minutes right at the start of the second half at Eleda Stadium. Sören Rieks and Veljko Birmancevik’s goals shocked Rangers, who had a hard time against MFF’s five back line at the end of the match.
But a save for the Scots came in the form of Steven Davis’ reduction goal, deep into extra time. The 36-year-old’s finish from just under 20 meters went in via an MFF leg and gave Rangers an expensive goal for the next meeting.
– It was a fantastic effort for 94 minutes and 57 seconds – then we let in the damn shot that is blocked into the goal. It’s just bad luck, but we’re making a great match. We show team spirit and show that we are a real team, says Anel Ahmedhodzic.
He continues:
–
– Personally, it felt damn tough to let in that goal at the last second, because we make a fantastic match and will keep a clean sheet. Now that you think about it, it is a good result, and the away goal rule is gone. We look forward to returning next week.

Together with Niklas Moisander and Lasse Nielsen, the 22-year-old made a great contribution to MFF’s central defense. Ahmedhodzic’s name, however, continues to be rumored to foreign clubs and it appears as a matter of time before the midfielder leaves the parent club. Possibly after the return against Rangers.
– We will see what happens, I have no answer to that, is Ahmedhodzic’s answer to the transfer information.
He is instead looking forward to the return match in a week in the Champions League qualifiers, where Rangers can have the opportunity to fill Ibrox Stadium to the brim if the restrictions are eased next Monday.
– We will handle it as we should. We know what British fans are like – they’re a little crazy. We have to deal with that, it is part of football, says Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The winner of the doubles match will face Greek Olympiakos or Ludogorets from Bulgaria in the CL playoffs.
