The joint meeting attended by faction leaders and DPD groups was approved Ahmad Muzani to be Chairman of the MPR RI for the period 2024-2029. Muzani himself is the Vice Chairman of MPR Indonesia for the period 2019-2024 and the General Secretary of Gerindra.
MPR RI joint meeting was held in DPR II Commission meeting room, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10/2024) from 19.30 WIB. The meeting was held behind closed doors.
“On the evening of 2 October 2024, a joint meeting of the leadership of the MPR from the MPR groups, from the DPD group, with the chairman of the interim session, agreed to reach a consensus that the candidate for the chairman of the MPR who has approved in this meeting, is the candidate recommended by “The name of the Gerindra Party organization is my friend, my colleague at the leadership of MPR for the previous period, the name is Mr. Haji Ahmad Muzani it is,” said the Chairman of the PDIP MPR RI Fraction, Ahmad Basarah, after the meeting.

Basarah continued, in addition to Muzani, the leadership ranks of the MPR RI will be filled with vice-chairmen who are representatives of each party group. The total leadership of the MPR RI is 9 people, made up of 8 faction representatives and 1 representative from the DPD RI.
“He will be accompanied by 8 deputy chairmen of the MPR who have been appointed by each political party group in the MPR,” he said.
However, he said, the leadership of the MPR RI elements of the DPD RI had not yet been determined. It is known that the DPD RI is still holding a full meeting to confirm the leadership until now.
“Those who are still waiting for the candidate for the deputy chairman of the MPR are parts of the DPD RI group that they are still meeting tonight to confirm,” he said.
