During the DKI Jakarta election era of 2017, there was an argument between Ahok or Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and musician Ahmad Dhani. The Dewa 19 frontman at that time defended the Anies-Sandi duo and often sharply criticized Ahok, who was still governor at that time.
Over the years, their relationship never let up until they finally met at the Dewa 19 concert in Sentul, West Java. Ahok admitted that he was the committee that invited Ahmad Dhani’s band.

Behind the stage, there was a rare moment where Ahmad Dhani met Ahok. The two were seen talking to each other in a video that went viral. Initially Ahmad Dhani was already in the tent then Ahok came in and shook his hand. Soon the two were seen engrossed in their conversation and laughing.
So what was the conversation between the two of them? When asked about this, Ahmad Dhani admitted that there was no political discussion between them but he did not specify the topics they discussed.
“God was performing at a golf club in Sentul, yes then Pak Ahok came to my waiting room,” Ahmad Dhani said when contacted by detik.com on Sunday (12/11/2022).
Ahmad Dhani said he and Ahok had talked about exchanging mobile numbers and taking pictures together. According to Dhani, the friendship between him and Ahok will continue.
“He came to see us, say hello to the exchange of mobile numbers. Yes, it is not impossible for the rally to continue,” he said.
Aside from that, Ahmad Dhani also admitted that he and Ahok had never had any problems. He felt it was just a guess. Now he also said that he would no longer be hard on the man from Belitung.
“Actually, a lot of people assume we’re hostile, right now the context is Ahok is no longer the governor of DKI, and in my opinion, yeah, I’m just hard on Ahok because when he became governor of DKI, now there’s no it’s reason for me to be hard on him.” he explained.
Dhani said he was hard on Ahok because at that time he didn’t like the way Ahok was riding DKI. Now, Dhani said, Ahok has become the Chief Commissioner of Pertamina, so he is no longer hard on Ahok.
“Yes, I don’t like the way DKI drives, that’s all. Now he is a commissioner of Pertamina. I don’t understand anything about Pertamina, so I keep quiet,” he concluded.
