Ahead of the regional electoral law review demonstration, concrete barriers were installed at the DPR fence

Students and staff will hold a demonstration against the refusal Review of provincial election law in front of the DPR Building of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta. Barracuda cars and concrete fences were seen backed up in the courtyard of the DPR building.

You can also see dozens of concrete barriers with wire around the fence of the DPR building. So far, no big crowds have been seen coming.

Next to detikcom, towards the DPR building, from the direction of Pancoran, South Jakarta, several policemen were also seen staying at all times. There were no traffic movements or road closures to be seen.

Demonstrations at the DPR and MK

A review of the Regional Election Law was rejected by various elements of society. The Labor Party and students will hold a protest demonstration today at the DPR.

The Labor Party and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) will hold a large demonstration in front of the RI DPR/MPR Building, tomorrow. They said they would bring in 5,000 people to respond to the measures taken by members of the RI DPR to overturn the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the regional elections.

“For tomorrow’s action we will defend the full session of the DPR RI in Baleg to monitor, maybe Baleg will change MK No. 60, of course we will be present with our farm colleagues and fishermen from West Java, DKI and Banten. and about 5,000 a lot, but maybe more,” Labor Party Secretary General Ferri Nuzarli told reporters at the Mega Proklik Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (21/8).

The Student Executive Board of the University of Indonesia (BEM UI) also held a demonstration in front of the DPR RI building, Thursday (22/8). They want to monitor the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the regional elections.

The action plan was presented by BEM UI through his Instagram account, Wednesday (21/8). They start performing at 09.00 WIB.

“Assembly point: UI FISIP area. Action point: DPR RI Building,” BEM UI wrote in a call for mass action to defend the Constitutional Court’s decision.

Demonstrations were also held at the Constitutional Court. Former activists and professors of ’98 will make an ax to reject the Regional Election Bill at the Constitutional Court.

“Those who were present were people whose names were listed there, we have confirmed the names,” activist 98 Ray Rangkuti told reporters, Wednesday (21/8) .
