Ahead of the Launch, Pre-Ordering PS5 Flooded Enthusiasts

JAKARTA – The PlayStation 5 (PS5) console began to be flooded with enthusiasts ahead of its launch on November 12, 2020. Sony said the enthusiasm of PS5 enthusiasts was ‘very large’ in accordance with the target of the Japanese company.

According to the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan was quoted from Among, Wednesday (28/10), the number of pre-sales of the PS5 console that was held by the United States (US) some time ago in 12 hours is equivalent to the first 12 weeks of sales of its predecessor, PlayStation 4.

“The demand as shown by the number of pre-orders is very, very large,” Ryan told Reuters, quoted today.

Previously, Sony sold more than 100 million PS4 units and hopes its users will switch to new devices by presenting a number of titles, such as “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” with improved graphics, sound and feedback through the new controller.

Sony admits that it faces a number of obstacles because it released the PS5 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The covid-19 outbreak has disrupted retail networks, development game, and manufacturing supply chains around the world.

“Maybe not everyone who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find it. (The company) is working as hard as we can to ensure a safe supply during the year-end shopping season,” said Ryan.

Sony is expected to experience profit growth game quarterly as PS4 users switch to higher-margin downloads. It’s thought the PS5 will be the first generation device that doesn’t make a division game annual loss in the year it was launched.

Sony has built a network of in-house studios producing a number of exclusive titles, including Sucker Punch Productions’ “Ghost of Tsushima”, to fend off rival Microsoft’s Xbox and other newcomers.

“Development game AAA is a very complicated and difficult thing to do. (I have) learned many lessons over the years, ”added Ryan.

Sony plans to expand its studio capabilities organically. A number of analysts predict the industry game will continue to receive encouragement from consumers who must be at home due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Ryan said Sony will encourage engagement with consumer interactions.

“We really expect that and are optimistic we can do better than we thought,” said Ryan. (Yanurisa Ananta)
