Ahead of the Indonesian MotoGP, Jokowi will “motorcycle” with Marquez in Jakarta

KOMPAS.com – A total of 20 riders are scheduled to ride a motorbike with the President Joko Widodo in Jakarta before MotoGP Indonesia 2022.

One of the riders who have been confirmed to take part in the parade is the Repsol Honda rider, the owner of six MotoGP world titles, Mark Marquez.

This was confirmed by the MotoGP on Tuesday (8/3/2022).

Apart from Marc Marquez, there are 15 other MotoGP riders who will also take part in the parade in Jakarta, from Joan Mir to Valentino Rossi’s half-brother, Luca Marini.

The two Indonesian racers who are also scheduled to take part in the parade are Mario Aji and Veda Ega Pratama.

Mario Aji is a Honda Team Asia racer who is currently competing in Moto3.

On the other hand, Veda Ega Pratama is a 13-year-old racer who has just flown the Red and White flag in Qatar, Sunday (6/3/2022).

The Red and White flag flew at the Lusail International Circuit last weekend after Veda Ega took the third podium in the second race of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) 2022 series.

In its statement, MotoGP said that the 20 riders who will take part in the parade will first visit the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/3/2022).

Marc Marquez and 19 other riders will be greeted directly by President Jokowi upon arrival at the Merdeka Palace.

After that, the 20 racers will come out to take part in the parade while riding motorbikes around Jakarta with Joko Widodo.

“President Jokowi will welcome the riders at the Merdeka Palace. President Jokowi will then join the parade and ride with 20 riders,” the MotoGP statement read.

“This unique parade will start and end at the Merdeka Palace,” reads an official statement from MotoGP.

After a series of ceremonies in Jakarta, Marc Marquez et al are scheduled to immediately leave for Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, to prepare to take part Indonesian MotoGP 2022.

Indonesia MotoGP Series 2022 at Mandalika Circuit scheduled for March 18-20.
