Agus Rahardjo Protests DPD RI Legislative Election Results, Raises Objection and Protest in East Java Province – Latest News

Jakarta

Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Agus Rahardjo is a DPD candidate from East Java province who received fifth place with 2,205,069 votes. With these results, Agus failed to go to Senayan.

On this occasion, Agus Rahardjo expressed his objection to the results of the 2024 DPD RI Legislative Election. This objection was conveyed by Agus’s witness, namely Abdul Rochim, at the national level recapitulation plenary meeting for East Java province which took place at the KPU today.

His party protested the DPD RI Legislative Election which was held in Sampang District, Madura, East Java. Based on East Java KPU records, Agus questioned the C1 data with D.Hasil.

“The votes in C1 plano and D. sub-district results do not match, where the invalid votes are transferred to one of the candidates for East Java Province DPD member number 1,” said Abdul Rochim to the East Java KPU and the Republic of Indonesia KPU, Wednesday (13/3 /2024).

Indonesian KPU Commissioner August Mellaz then asked the East Java KPU for a response to Agus’ protest. According to the Chair of the East Java KPU, Aang Kunaifi, Agus’ party only conveyed their protest verbally.

On the one hand, Agus’s party expressed verbal objections during the recapitulation plenary in Sampang Regency. Aang claimed that the objection was submitted before the recapitulation plenary was completed.

“The witness in question on behalf of Agus Raharjo objected before the plenary was completed. So, he submitted an objection before the plenary was finished. Even before it started, the witness concerned already objected,” he said.

Meanwhile, Agus Rahardjo and his team made a report regarding the objection on February 28 2024. Based on East Java Bawaslu records, Agus Rahardjo’s report was received on March 6 2024.

“Chronology and administration at the East Java Bawaslu on February 28 2024 and submitted a revised report on March 5 2024 and we received confirmation that this problem had been delegated to the Sampang district Bawaslu on March 6 2024,” said Aang.

However, reports Agus Rahardjo It can only be processed on March 7-8 2023. Because, according to East Java Bawaslu records, the Pamekasan area has just been hit by flooding. This caused the East Java Bawaslu to have difficulty processing Agus Rahardjo’s report.

Based on this note from Bawaslu RI, August Mellaz considered that the Indonesian KPU could not process objections from Agus Rahardjo. This is because the Indonesian KPU is currently processing the recapitulation of the vote tally, not processing alleged violations in the 2024 election.

Mellaz said, the Indonesian KPU did not have the right to see evidence of the objections raised by Agus in the national recapitulation process. According to him, the Indonesian KPU needs permission from the Indonesian Bawaslu if it wants to see evidence for the objection. On the one hand, he believes that the handling of alleged violations will continue to be processed by Bawaslu RI.

“Now, for example, if you bring C.Plano, what room will we use to look at it? Unless there is a recommendation from Bawaslu, we will open it. That does not reduce the need for witnesses that this will continue to move forward to handle violations,” he said.
